Online Personal Branding dan Kampanye Pemilu
Posted on December 12th, 2009 No commentsHiruk pikuk persiapan pemilu legislatif yang akan berlangsung pada bulan April 2009 sudah mulai terasa.
Spanduk kampanye para calon legislatif (caleg) dengan berbagai pesan moral, mental dan spiritual, yang intinya ingin mengatakan, “pilihlah saya”, betebaran di sepanjang jalan. Beberapa rekan saya yang kebetulan merintis jalan menjadi caleg DPR atau DPRD mengatakan bahwa ratusan juta bahkan miliaran rupiah telah dikeluarkan untuk berbagai kegiatan kampanye mencari dukungan massa dan personal branding . Kebanyakan dana dikeluarkan untuk spanduk, kaos, dan bendera, meskipun adalagi yang mencoba membuat “keshalehan sosial dadakan” dengan memperbaiki jalan atau membangunkan fasilitas umum. Jalan mahal, yang jujur saja belum tentu efektif untuk mendapatkan simpati dari masyarakat.
Investasi mahal dalam kampanye ini sebenarnya sangat disadari oleh partai peserta pemilu dan juga calegnya. Saya amati, terhitung sejak akhir tahun 2008, banyak pengurus partai dan caleg yang meminta analisa saya tentang seberapa efektif penggunaan Internet untuk sarana alternatif dalam kampanye (online campaign ) dan personal branding . Tren dunia politik di wilayah online ini meneruskan tren model marketing dan branding perusahaan di Indonesia juga menuju jalur online. Tren ini tertangkap karena kebetulan dua tahun terakhir saya banyak diminta mengisi workshop internal tentang personal branding dan corporate blogging di berbagai perusahaan besar, khususnya yang bergerak di bidang perminyakan dan telekomunikasi.
Indonesia bukan negara dengan jumlah pengguna Internet yang kecil, ini hal pertama yang harus kita catat. Jumlah pengguna Internet di Indonesia, menurut data terakhir dari Internet World Stats , mencapai 25 juta orang. Rangking Indonesia untuk jumlah pengguna Internet setara dengan Spanyol, dan jauh meninggalkan negara tetangga kita seperti Philipina, Malaysia dan Vietnam. Dukungan total dari 25 juta pengguna Internet, lebih dari cukup sebagai syarat minimal untuk maju menjadi calon RI-1. Sesuai dengan UU Pemilu yang mensyaratkan bahwa calon presiden harus mendapat dukungan minimal 25% suara nasional (sekitar 23.9 juta). Inilah dasar argumentasi penting bahwa Internet seharusnya menjadi sarana efektif, dan mungkin paling efisien, dalam kegiatan mencari dukungan massa dan peningkatan personal branding.
Online personal branding sebenarnya bukan hal baru di dunia teknologi informasi. Para penggiat dunia Internet dan teknologi informasi sebenarnya telah melakukanonline personal branding , bahkan sering hidup dari hasil kegiatan itu, meskipun kadang mereka tidak sadar melakukannya. Para programmer open source melakukanpersonal brandin g ketika mereka mengembangkan suatu software dan mereleasenya dengan bebas (free) ke publik. Para system administrator , system analyst dan security expert , semakin meningkat personal branding -nya ketika mereka berhasil membuat tulisan menarik dan unik di blog mereka tentang tren terbaru di bidangnya masing-masing. Personal branding semakin cepat terbentuk karena fenomena booming -nya layanan social networking bagi pengguna internet.
Kembali ke masalah online personal branding untuk para caleg partai politik, langkah awal yang harus dilakukan untuk memulai membangun personal branding adalah melalui berbagai sarana online di bawah.
- BLOGGING Miliki situs blog dengan nama domain pribadi dan isi dengan tulisan-tulisan kita tentang pandangan politik kita, termasuk apa yang sebenarnya kita ingin perjuangkan di jalur legislatif ini. Jangan pernah hanya menggunakan waktu luang untuk menulis, tapi sengaja luangkan waktu dalam sehari untuk kegiatan menulis di blog ini. Blogging alias ngeblog adalah cara efektif dalam marketing di dunia maya. Hal ini didukung oleh teori dari pakar branding dan marketing,P. Montoya , yang mengatakan bahwa suara individu lebih dipercaya daripada suara institusi atau perusahaan. Dukungan teknis datang dari CMS blog seperti wordpress , yang mempermudah proses Search Engine Optimization (SEO) khususnya jenis onpage lewat berbagai plugin-nya. Perlu dicatat bahwa jangan sekali-sekali melakukan copy-paste dari artikel dari tempat lain karena itu justru akan menhancurkan brand kita.
- SOCIAL NETWORKING Friendster dan Facebook adalah duo social networking yang sangat besar penggunanya dan sangat cepat dalam kegiatan pengumpulan massa. Indonesia tercatat sebagai pengguna terbesar di dunia untuk Friendster dan termasuk papan atas untuk Facebook. Pengguna Internet di Indonesia bahkan mulai meninggalkan mailing list untuk sarana diskusi, menyebar undangan, sharing aktifitas dan mengumpulkan orang, karena semua bisa kita lakukan dengan berbagai aplikasi yang ada di layanan social networking . Perlu diingat bahwa melakukan hard-marketing ataupun spamming di layanan social networking dan juga aktifitas blogging adalah berbahaya dalam pembentukan brand kita. Jalursoft-marketing dengan aktif berdiskusi dan menulis dengan logis serta ilmiah adalah jalur terbaik dalam personal branding . Personal branding dengan Facebook bisa memanfaatkan fasilitas Pages atau Groups. Menambahkan Friends (teman) memiliki batasan 5000 orang, jadi alihkan strategi Add Friends ke Pages yang tidak memiliki batasan jumlah penggemar. Apabila memungkinkan gunakan juga social networking yang berbasis di video dan gambar seperti YouTube dan Flicker. Barrack Obama adalah contoh nyata bagaimana seorang politikus sukses melakukan online campaign dengan memanfaatkan YouTube.
Terakhir, perlu kita pahami bahwa tidak ada cara instan nan cepat dalam personal brandin g. Semua perlu waktu dan proses sehingga kita, karya kita dan pendapat-pendapat kita, bisa diakui dan dipercaya oleh masyarakat.
